"Swimming is not just a fun activity but a lifestyle choice that continues to be beneficial at all ages and stages of your life.
It's not just a life saving skill but an investment in a better life. "
I started teaching at the age of 15. Despite a few attempts at keeping my feet on dry land I have always been drawn back to the water. I have had the opportunity to work for aquatics programs such as Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, The Ymca of Glendale, and LAUSD Portable Pools Program just to name a few. I've also been fortunate enough to coach for swim teams like Immaculate Heart High School, ORCA, Riptides, and LAVC's women's water polo. I started ocswim4u in 2017 and have been teaching in Yorba Linda ever since.
As a freshman in high school I competed on the Varsity Team of a CIF DIV.1 team. Crowned as Pacific League Champions for 3 out of the 4 years where I was a finalist in the 100 butterfly, the 200 I.M., and the I.M. relay. I also competed in junior Olympics 1 year, DIV.1 CIF prelims for 3 years and was captain of our team as a Junior and Senior.
By far, my proudest accreditation in aquatic sports however is starting the first women's water polo team in our district. The first we played jv boys teams but by the second year we had inspired every High School in our district to form a women's team. By my senior year it was approved by CIF and recognized as an official athletic sport.
I was offered a scholarship to play water polo my first of college but I turned it down because I felt " it was time to hang up my suit and start acting like a responsible adult........' Thinking of that now is hysterically ironic! Fast forward 25 years and here we are..!
Fun fact To this day more Olympic Women's Water Polo players come from So Cal than anywhere else in the nation.
